The Rayfoil Story: Two Visionaries, One Destiny

Our journey began with a groundbreaking project – building Estonia’s first solar car, “Solaride.” This endeavor brought together skilled engineers and mentors, united by a common dream to push the boundaries of technology and sustainability. Riding on the momentum of the solar car race, we embarked on our next ambitious dream – creating the Ray Foil electric surfboard. Our breakthrough was in developing a structural mast battery, a solution that has proven to be a game-changer in the world of eFoils. This innovation has led to the creation of the world’s lightest eFoil, a design so compact it fits conveniently into a backpack for easy transport.

In the heart of Estonia, three years ago, Andres Nöps set out on a bold journey. An talented electrical engineer with roots in elite athletics and a passion for innovation, he began developing what would become one of the lightest, smartest eFoils in the world. Emerging from the groundbreaking Solaride project, Andres poured his energy into crafting a new kind of ride—one that merged cutting-edge tech with the pure joy of gliding above water. His project needed a name that captured the essence of sun, energy, and flow. He called it Rayfoil.
Meanwhile, in Barcelona, Mat Rauzier, founder of Rayvolt and a recognized pioneer in both surf and electric mobility, was quietly developing a new passion project. With a legacy at Starboard SUP and a revolution underway at Rayvolt Bikes, Mat was uniquely positioned to fuse his knowledge of board shaping, design, and smart propulsion into something extraordinary: an electric foil that embodied his lifestyle philosophy. For him, the name was obvious—Rayfoil, the perfect extension of the Rayvolt family.
Then, the universe intervened.
A year ago, on a windswept beach, something extraordinary occurred. Mat and Andres, complete strangers, arrived on the same stretch of coastline—each with an eFoil prototype, each unknowingly riding boards they had independently named Rayfoil.
They met mid-ride, exchanged glances, and laughed in disbelief. Two inventors, from different countries, both called by the sea to test their dreams—on the same day, in the same place, with the same name. It was more than coincidence. It was cosmic alignment. It was the universe nudging them together, insisting that this story was meant to be written together.
As they spent the day flying over water, sharing thoughts, visions, and philosophies, it became clear: they weren’t just building similar products. They were crafting the same future. With deeply aligned values and complementary skills, Rayfoil revealed itself not just as a brand—but as a shared destiny.
From that day, a connection was born. They stayed in touch, sharing progress, insights, and inspiration. Each continued refining their designs, but the sense of shared purpose only deepened. They knew they were meant to do more than walk parallel paths—they were meant to build something lasting, together.
As of yesterday, Mat Rauzier and Andres Nöps have officially joined forces to co-found Rayfoil Technology. This new company merges their expertise, passion, and vision into a single mission: to deliver the most innovative, elegant, and accessible eFoils the world has ever seen.
Today, Rayfoil is the union of two brilliant journeys and a magic connection. With Andres’ precision engineering and Mat’s visionary design, Rayfoil aims to lead the new era of electric foiling. Elegant, portable, intuitive—and unmistakably iconic—Rayfoil is more than a ride. It’s the next wave in sustainable water sports.
Two inventors. One name. One destiny.
